Peet's Coffee Dark Roast Whole Bean, Major Dickason's Blend, 32 oz.

Instructions

Peet's Coffee® Major Dickason's Blend® Deep Roast, Whole Bean (32 oz.) has been a Berkley original since 1969. Fans love it because this coffee has a rich, spicy, complex and multi-layered flavor offering smoky, toasty notes and a deep, chocolatey sweetness.

Why Buy Peet's Coffee Major Dickason's Blend Deep Roast, Whole Bean?

When you buy whole beans and grind them minutes before you brew your pot of coffee, the flavor is much stronger and the subtle taste of your coffee beans is more noticeable. You also have control over the grind with whole bean coffee. Different brewing methods work best with different types of coarseness, so when you grind coffee yourself, you can make up a batch of extra coarse coffee for your French press or fine grinds for an espresso machine. Even the simplest coffee grinder or food processor will give you the control over your grounds, meaning that Peet's Coffee Major Dickason's Blend Deep Roast, Whole Bean will work for any and every method of brewing.

What's the Difference Between Roasts?

The degree to which coffee beans are roasted is one of the most important factors determining the taste of the coffee. Before roasting, green coffee beans have a grassy smell and little or no taste. The roasting process transforms them into the crunchy, aromatic beans that we recognize as coffee. The age, processing method, grind, and brewing method also affect the taste, but the roast level provides a rough guide to the taste you can expect. Light roasts have pronounced acidity and a toasted grain taste, medium roasts exhibit more balanced flavor, aroma and acidity, and dark roasts will generally have a smoky taste.

About Peet's Coffee

Since Alfred Peet opened his first coffee bar over 50 years ago, Peet's Coffee has been dedicated to crafting the perfect cup, an endeavor that shapes every step of their process. Peet's Coffee has a direct relationship with the farmers who grow their beans, visiting them regularly and in person, and focuses on sourcing coffees that carry Fair Trade, USDA Organic and Rainforest Alliance certifications.

I was looking for something to replace Starbucks espresso blend. Had always heard about Peet's so gave it a go. Much, much better. Nice bold roast with a nice finish. Smooth not burnt or bitter. My new go to daily.

Nice!

peets.com

Took longer than i thought but was very pleased with the freshness (roast on date). Well worth it to experience that distinct Major Dickason's flavor at optimum freshness!

Major Dickason's

A wonderful strong and full-bodied taste without harsh finish, just what I want my coffee to taste like. I found the ground version excellent so wanted to buy quantity of beans to grind myself. This is perfect!

Major Dickason coffee

This was the first coffee that I ever bought of Peets, in the grocery store, before I discovered that if you pay a little more, buying it freshly roasted and having it sent you your house makes SUCH a difference in flavor. I enjoy the multiple warm and lightly toasted flavors that simultaneously meander throughout your mouth while drinking this. Extremely flavorful without being overpowering in any way. A great balance going on here. Never a bad choice with this.

Ol' Reliable

A good price on a good coffee. I prefer the whole bean because it seems to retain more of the flavor and character that I prefer. Easy enough to get it here at Sam's Club without having to wait for a sale at the regular grocery store. Simple as that.

Love the coffee. Very frustrated with the inflexibility of the online ordering system. Within a few minutes I wrote to say I had meant to order decaf. I was told it was too late, the order was in, so over a week later the coffee arrives. Since it took over a week, there was not time to change my order?

Delicious/Frustrated

Always loved it. When I lived near a Peet's store in Santa Monica I would have half Major and half Sumatra - a great blend. Been without Peets for a long time due to moves. etc. and gift of a Nspresso but finally couldn't wait and got a drip pot and Peets was the only place to go. But sorry to say your hazelnut mocha WAS TRULY HORRIBLE, threw out the opened package. Still have 2 - maybe can give away but doubt it as not only was the taste terrible but the aroma that usually from Peets is "can hardly wait for the first cup" filled he kitchen with a sickening sweetness. Am a Peetnik. once again and have loved for over 15 years. Thank you and keep the Major Dickenson coming!!!

GOOD AND BAD

Had gone to a coffee that came in frac pacs, flavor was very good and was from a family roaster we tried while at a wedding. Had been drinking for about a year when wife said let's try Pete's Major Dickason's again. Forgot how good this was, do not mind grinding every morning.

Back to Pete's Major Dickason's

I really like a dark roast with its rich flavor and chocolate-y aftertaste. If you like the Major Dickason's Blend this is a stronger option and really goes well with chocolate flavored creamers - or drink it black and chase it with an Entemann's Devil's Food Chocolate donut or two (my fave).

A Dark Roasted Coffee for lovers of that flavor

walmart.com

Peet's has gone steadily downhill since its days as a closely-held private company. The coffee, most importantly, remains good. But the bags often tear when opened; the tape can no longer be re-used to help seal an open bag; the included clamp is absurdly short and useless when the emptying bag is folded. The web site doesn't work properly on a tablet (e.g., the link to Shoprunner) and requires a laptop or desktop; the shipping information is wildly inaccurate, with inaccurate delivery forecasts and even claims of successful delivery days before the coffee arrives; the two days delivery guarantee through Shoprunner, even when measured from the roast date, is ignored (unlike virtually every other Shoprunner merchant). The selection of accessories, such as mugs, has been drastically reduced. And this grind, because it combines percolators and French press, is not course enough for French press. GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER!

Steady Deterioration

Iris

I am not sure if you changed your formula you're roasting process or just what but the last two deliveries of major Dickinson Whole bean coffee has been weak and almost tasteless. Makes me wanna switch brands.
